Mrs. Cook

Hello, my name is Heidi Cook!

I am a native Coloradan from Colorado Springs. Although, I was born here I have lived all over the world and I still enjoy a good adventure now and then. I spent most of my younger years in Texas where I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood and Special Education. Teaching Reading is a passion of mine and I have spent many years focusing on Spalding Phonics and remedial Reading. In addition, I have recently acquired my Large Facility Directors License from the State of Colorado. This will be my 21st year teaching after taking a long break to raise my four children.

I have taught Jr. Kindergarten, Kindergarten, first grade, and reading. By far, Kindergarten is my favorite and my passion is reading. This is my fourth year at PCK and my second as a Kindergarten teacher. I spent my second year as an Resource Teacher focusing on remedial reading and loved every moment. I make it my focus each and every year to do my best to enrich the lives of my students by teaching them to be the best readers they can be. I set my expectations high and by giving them the tools, skills, and establishing an environment based on love and respect, I fully expect each student to reach their full potential.

As for my personal life, I am married to my fabulous husband Allen and we will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this September. We have four awesome kids, three daughters and one son ranging in ages from 15 to 24. A couple fun facts about me: three of my sweet kiddos are adopted and I've lived in Saudi Arabia. I love to camp, hike, shop, and spend time with my sweet family. My first love is Colorado but I have recently found a second love in Montana. You will hear me talk often of our trips and adventures in MT throughout the year. I am looking forward to a new and adventurous year at PCK with your precious kiddos.
